A Transport Assessment is being prepared to consider the potential effects of the mixed use proposals on the adjacent highway network during peak hours. This will help to formulate appropriate mitigation measures where necessary. A Travel Plan will also be prepared for the store to encourage Lidl employees and residents of the flats to travel sustainably to the site from the outset.
The site is located immediately adjacent to the town centre, whilst access to other local amenities for residents such as a pharmacy and doctor’s surgery can be reached to the east along Upper High Street.
Car and cycle parking for the Lidl foodstore and the residential apartments will be provided taking into account both Surrey County Council and Epsom Borough Council adopted standards. Justification will be provided for the parking levels.
Public transport links are good within the vicinity of the site, with three regular bus services available along Upper High Street. A bus stop is located adjacent to the site frontage on Upper High Street providing access to destinations such as Epsom railway station, Leatherhead, Guildford and Cobham. A bus stop for eastbound services towards Banstead, Couldson and Croydon is located 50 metres to the west along Upper High Street.
